Dedicated to every Huntress

Aurae means wind in Latin but it is a very evocative word which in Italian makes us think of the dawn. In short we wanted to baptize a new hunting outfit with a name that would open up the imagination a little and arouse positive sensations as positive as, this whole crazy project to create a women’s clothing line, has been.

The somewhat smoky idea that in the distant future we would have approached the world of women was in the air but, among many priorities, was a bit in the queue, there were so many other projects in the cauldron that had priority and then why allocate resources and energies to what is a small market? The premises were not encouraging because the armories themselves sometimes discouraged us saying the numbers are small and that for the women who hung out in their shops it was more comfortable to try to cobble together some men’s clothes and keep it simple.

Yes the huntresses exist, they may not be many but they are there and they are a heterogeneous and alive world with a specific identity and definitely fed up with having to settle for tailored menswear.

The day comes when Isabella Villa, president of women’s national coordination of Federcaccia, writes an e-mail and then a meeting is arranged and so we can see these huntresses for ourselves and we understand that they have some needs to which the market is not yet giving concrete answers. There are garments that are beautiful to look at but uncomfortable or too delicate, those that don’t keep warm, those too expensive…in short models around can be seen but the dissatisfaction is tangible. Why not create a small line dedicated to women, in which to put together the answers to all the limits found in the tested garments, in which to converge the ideas and solutions that the various huntresses are looking for?

It was 2021, year when everything in the world worked at a slow pace, the factories had dilated production times, transport was scarce and with stellar prices, raw materials were not found…everything was difficult and expensive therefore it certainly wasn’t the most enthusiastic moment to embark on a real adventure with decidedly uncertain outcomes.

But Konus can’t sit still and feels the duty to accept this request that cannot have come by chance: when will it happen again that he has a staff of competent huntresses at his disposal that the garments can test, improve, criticise, etc…? And so it was decided to embark on this journey and long months of phone calls began, messages, mail, samples that come and go. Isabella Villa has been tireless in holding on through all these sometimes annoying but necessary passages to finalize everything.

And so, step by step, each garment took on the light and, although it is a small range, let’s say it’s a good starting point to dress a woman who has this passion. The highlight is a waterproof and breathable suit which is called precisely Aurae and which fully comunicates the attention that the coodination Federcaccia has placed on the mission. The jacket contains an additional inner jacket that can also be worn individually, this combination makes the garment suitable for different temperatures and seasons and above all…keeps warm, which is essential for women. Having an anti-thorn insert on the belly and lower back is a touch that gives an idea of the high level of study. “Why do we have to risk hurting ourselves or ruining jackets for thorns right away, can’t we protect the belly? And thus this reinforcement was born which is in a rubber blend fabric which really allows for total protection while not restricting movement. The same protective fabric has been used for the matching trousers, which use them extensively. Our hesitations in wanting to circumscribe it were of no avail because the huntresses know what it takes and not only on the front but also on the back because it happens that you have to squat down and slide on the ground to move faster downhill and a normal hunting trousers can’t stand this, our yes. And then finally a really high-waisted pant that can even be adapted to waist without problems: you put it on, close it and then adjust it with the side bands and feel that it doesn’t move or pull.

Then there are two vests: one dedicated to wild boar hunting and therefore high visibility orange, with the radio pocket that allows the antenna to come out, with large pocket on the back with washable interior and with two front pockets and then the feather hunting vest with a hunter on the back which leaves everyone speechless because not only is it very wide but it can also be opened in several steps. In the end a warm sweatshirt, in a soft and thick fabric and with a flared line that enhances it. In short, in 5 clothing, there is so much experience , so much attention and so much want to give to huntresses those long awaited answers. These huntresses will also be few but they deserve to be considered and valued, who knows that they will not increase over time because their wonderful stories of those who accompany their husband into the woods, of those who have had this inheritance from their father or of simple and absolute love for nature, these are stories we wish we could hear more often. Come on women!!
